Job Title: OB/GYN Physician

Job Description  

The OB/GYN physician is responsible for the delivery of medical services to promote efficient and effective high-quality obstetric and gynecologic health services, ensuring continuity of care throughout pregnancy, reproductive health, and gynecologic management, and making appropriate referrals to other healthcare providers to support the comprehensive needs of patients seen in the outpatient environment according to the mission, vision and goals of Covenant Community Care, Inc.

  • Utilizes an Evidence Based Medicine approach wherever feasible.

  • Provides consultation and health education to patients, family and the community.

  • Prescribes and dispenses medications as licensed.

  • Delegates patient care responsibilities that fall under the scope of practice of other Care Team members to those individuals (medical assistant, nurse, care coordinator, patient educator, registration representative, behavioral health)

  • Makes appropriate recommendations and referrals for follow-up with other health services providers to meet the needs of consumers.

  • Precepts midlevel providers as necessary, and cosigns notes as required for mid‐level providers and all trainees that interact with provider’s patients or during provider’s actual clinic time.

  • Reviews and responds to lab results, medical records and other patient results as part of the healthcare team, in a timely manner.

  • Serves as a leader in the organization, actively pursuing the mission of Covenant Community Care to show and share the love of God, as seen in the good news of Jesus Christ, by providing integrated, affordable and quality health care to those who need it most.

  • Serves assigned schedule as well as “on call” days and carries and answers pager as assigned.

  • Documents services delivered in a timely, accurate and prescribed manner, in compliance with the Covenant Community Care’s Quality Assurance Plan.

  • Adheres to the Policies and Procedures, standards for service delivery and Code of Ethics established by Covenant Community Care, Inc.

  • Participates in continuing medical education, including Basic Life Support Training, to maintain the skills necessary to perform physician duties and as required by applicable medical boards and the State.  

Qualifications, Skills, Education

  • Possesses a Bachelor’s Degree and a Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine from an accredited school of medicine

  • State of Michigan licensure as an MD or DO

  • Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology Certified, Board eligible considered

  • Maintains up to date Basic Life Support for Healthcare professionals certification

  • Maintains up to date DEA and other certificates required to legally operate as a practitioner in the State of Michigan

  • Must be a member or be able to obtain and maintain membership and privileges on the Medical Staff of select hospitals as assigned
