Overview

Our FQHC is the first community-based FQHC in Staten Island, NY. It was also the first faith-based Christian health center approved as a New York state licensed facility to provide outpatient primary care services. Since opening our doors in 2006, we have provided comprehensive adult services, pediatric services, comprehensive OB/GYN services, and podiatry. We also provide on-site a nutritionist, mental health counselor, and a chaplain.

Our health center is located in the Mariners Harbor community, a medically-underserved community in Staten Island. As part of New York City, we serve a ethnically-diverse neighborhood. Our staff currently speaks 7 languages (spanish, Korean, Mandarin, Cantonese, Russian, Italian, Sinhala. In addition we have patients from all over the world including India, Pakistan, Yemen, Egypt, Nigeria and Liberia.

The majority of our patients receive Medicaid assistance but we also provide services to uninsured patients. Our health center is a great place to come and work especially if you are looking to have experience with working in a multi-ethnic population setting. If you have plans to serve overseas, consider coming to work with us to get some cultural experience before going overseas. Our goal is to share the love of Christ with all of our patients, through word and deed.

FULL TIME

Vision services expected to be provided include performing vision screenings for adults and children, providing corrective lenses as needed, vision screenings for children who fail screenings at school, glaucoma screening, screening for diabetic retinopathy. Participation in community outreach and health education events required. heart to serve the urban city dwellers and non-English speaking immigrants a must. Flexibility for evenings and weekends strongly desired. 

Qualifications

  • Licensed in New York State

  • Prior experience in CHC helpful but not required

  • Agree to and abide by guiding principles of the health center

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
