Overview

Our Health Center was established to help demonstrate Jesus' love for the whole person through healthcare. Most of our patients are in poverty and nearly half are refugees from all over the world who have fled their homeland due to strife or other circumstances not under their control. Our patients speak over 40 different languages, with significant populations from 11 language groups. Our goal is to provide empowering ministries to demonstrate Jesus' love for the whole person to all who come to us.

Job Title — Director of Philanthropy

Job Description

Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Philanthropy will take lead on the development of the organization's fundraising plan, stewardship activities and relationship management, with the goal of financial gain for the organization. This role is responsible for developing strategies to meet fundraising goals and creating sustainable revenue. The Director of Philanthropy will work closely with and provide oversight over other team members as it pertains to the creation and implementation of fund development strategies for the organization.

Essential Job Duties

SUPERVISION

  • Provide direct oversight over the partner development team.

  • Ability to be a leader who can take direction from a supervisor and provide direction to direct reports

  • Provide bi-weekly timecard approvals and approving time off requests that are scheduled without compromising department support for organization.

  • Conduct 30, 60, 90 day and annual performance evaluations for direct reports

  • Provide team meetings and support to individuals for individual and team success.

DONOR RELATIONS & FUNDRAISING

  • Implement and manage all fundraising activities including annual appeals, major gifts, corporate and individual appeals, social media and special events to increase revenues for the clinic as well as campaigns during planning, silent and public stages of such initiatives.

  • Campaign work will require partnership with campaign counsel and articulation of initiatives to be funded and goals in written and oral form.

  • Strategic Planning; Develop the department's strategic plan that encompasses a comprehensive strategy around short-term, mid-term, long-term goals and metrics for measuring the team's progress.

  • Develop and manage the organization's fundraising policies.

  • Build & manage relationships with and solicit gifts from constituents including foundations, corporations, community members, individuals and families; build & utilize a portfolio of prospects to move towards solicitation and stewardship stages of relationships to support the organization's strategic plan.

  • Monitor and evaluate all fundraising activities and events to ensure that budgets, fundraising goals, and timelines are met.

  • Work jointly with the Events and Development Coordinator to manage relationships with and solicit support from local businesses and corporations, and foundations as applicable.

  • Lead the active solicitation of major gifts, sponsorships/auction items related to fundraising goals of the organization.

  • Build relationships with community stakeholders, corporations, and individual prospects to advance the mission and fundraising goals of the clinic.

  • Make public appearances and accept speaking engagements to promote the mission and work of Community Health Center.

  • Manages all major gifts functions, which include principal gifts, planned giving, donor prospecting and research, and special one- or multi-year fundraising campaigns.

  • Understands and complies with all gift-related policies and procedures and ensures ethical compliance, as defined by the Association for Fundraising Professionals.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Maintain informational databases on individuals, families, foundations and corporate donors, including details on movements from prospect portfolios.

  • Produce reports for the Chief Executive Officer to demonstrate prospect movement, annual & major gift goals, and progress on goals-to-date.

  • Hold weekly or biweekly prospect moves management sessions with those managing donor portfolios or key volunteers to strategize on solicitations.

  • Work with Marketing and Communications Manager on the production of all major development publications, focusing on relevant campaigns and donor relationships;

  • Provide oversight of print and electronic marketing materials.

  • Oversee and ensure that donations are being recorded properly, and that acknowledgments and thank you letters are being generated in a timely fashion, and accordingly.

  • Utilize email to inform constituents and/or the general public of current development related events, in collaboration with the Events and Development Coordinator.

Job Qualifications Education, Skills, and Experience   

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, or minimum of 2+ years’ of fundraising/management experience

  • Commitment to mission, vision and values of CHC

  • Passion for partnership building, partner engagement and fund development

  • Experienced in making financial asks

  • Donor database management experience preferred but not required
